Christine Heppermann writes fiction, poetry, and narrative nonfiction for children and young adults. Her books include the highly acclaimed book of poetry Poisoned Apples: Poems For You, My Pretty (Harper Collins/Greenwillow); two novels-in-verse, Ask Me How I Got Here and What Goes Up (both Harper Collins/Greenwillow); the nonfiction City Chickens (Houghton Mifflin); and the Backyard Witch series (with Ron Koertge, Harper Collins/Greenwillow). She has reviewed children's and young adult books for many major publications including the Chicago Tribune, the Minneapolis Star Tribune, and The Horn Book Magazine.

After residing in New York's Hudson Valley for eight years, Christine recently moved back to her hometown of Omaha, Nebraska, where she was overjoyed to learn that her childhood favorite food, the Cheese Frenchee, still exists. With her two daughters off in the world seeking their fortunes, she lives in a house in Midtown with her husband Eric and one shy and one gregarious cat.
